Fête de la Musique – World Music Day
Let's Make Music!
Each year, over 1,000 cities throw citywide music celebrations around the summer solstice. It started 40+ years ago in France, when the Ministry of Culture imagined a day where free, live music would be everywhere: street corners and parks, rooftops and gardens, storefronts, and mountaintops. Unlike a typical music festival, anyone and everyone would be invited to join and play music and host performances. It’s called Fête de la Musique.
The Georgetown BID, Georgetown Heritage, and the Embassy of France-Villa Albertine partnered to host our second annual Fête de la Musique – World Music Day on Saturday, June 21. 40+ musical acts performed in dozens of locations throughout Georgetown (3 pm – 7 pm), or at one of several stages at La Maison Française. (6 pm – 10 pm). Stay tuned for 2026 event dates and details!
