In this class we will discuss the principles and elements of design\, composition\, and combining drawing\, texture\, and color to create a monotype of an image using line and plexiglass\, collage\, and oil painting. Students will learn to transfer an image to paper\, add collage materials to enhance image\, and paint into the image to create final one-of-a-kind pieces of artwork. \nOn the first day of class\, students are expected to bring their sketchbook and multiple inspirational images (landscape\, still life\, portrait\, abstract\, photograph\, etc.) to review for their first mixed media piece. Artwork should be sized to 8×10 or 4×5 on paper; colored image preferred\, but not critical. Students will be expected to work on their own during the course. By the end of this class\, students will have basic knowledge how to create a monotype and add mixed media and color to a print. \n(Photo courtesy of Washington Printmakers Gallery) URL:https://www.georgetowndc.com/event/monotype-and-mixed-media-with-bridget-murphy-4/2026-03-03/ LOCATION:Washington Printmakers Gallery (1675 Wisconsin Ave NW)\, DC\, United States CATEGORIES:Community Events GEO:38.9071923;-77.0368707 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20260310T183000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20260310T203000 DTSTAMP:20251213T102402 CREATED:20251107T183136Z LAST-MODIFIED:20251107T183136Z UID:4211201-1773167400-1773174600@www.georgetowndc.com SUMMARY:Monotype and Mixed Media with Bridget Murphy DESCRIPTION:Explore using various media (printmaking\, collage\, painting) to create your monotype artwork.
